Why People Still Love Windows 7

Microsoft Windows 7 is still one of the most popular operating systems people prefer today, but sadly this version is no longer supported by Microsoft and is a program of the past.

  • User-friendly
  • Taskbar pinning
  • Software compatibility
  • Speed
  • SSD installed
  • No need to upgrade
  • Just works effectively

Even though Windows 7 lacks the bells and whistles of Windows 10, I for one preferred that version to the new version I am using today. It was dependable and effective in getting what you wanted to get accomplished, and it is much quicker starting up and shutting down with less viruses, malware, and other problems today’s versions seem to experience regularly.

As of January 14th 2020 Microsoft officially retired Windows 7, so this means no more upgrades or support. Many people refuse to give up this version of Windows despite it is a program of the past, but it was simple to use and effective to be productive. Even today many people share they can accomplish more of their business tasks in a shorter time than with Windows 10, so maybe the new is fancier and prettier but according to some people they still prefer to use the antique version of Windows 7. As I was researching for keywords for my next article I was surprised to see there are still over 1500 people searching for information on this version, so even though Microsoft is doing its best to retire this version, there still are more people who prefer this antique over the newer operating systems.

  1. This is a great post. I especially hate the latest windows but hate Apple even more so I’m stuck. My only concern is some webpages are optimized for the latest Windows. Will Windows 7 work with most new websites?

Thanks for such great content… nice to know that I can get Windows 7 back!

    1. Hello, Jamie

Most people including myself dislike the new windows program, so it will be interesting what Microsoft comes up with in their next version.
I don’t know why they have to keep changing Windows, they should have left it alone in my opinion.

Windows 7 will work with new websites, but without any updates and support in the future this might become a problem eventually.
You just don’t receive all the bells and whistles like the newer versions, but if you are like me I rarely use most of them

      I prefer simple

  2. Finally something positive about Win7. Call me a sucker for the past but I loved Win7 and used it for almost a decade on a number of laptops and monitors I owned all along. It wasn’t until the end of last year that I had to move to Windows 10 when I received a notification that Win7 would no longer be supported.
From this post, I can gather that I can still use it. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hello, Zay
You can still use your favorite Windows 7, but as you stated you will not be able to update the operating system
or receive support from Microsoft. So Microsoft is trying to officially retire their best system program, I often wonder
why they don’t provide Windows 7 since it is the most popular system they have created?

  3. Thank you Jeff for this post.
Free Windows 7 Software Downloads in another good article. I agree with you, there are still many people searching for this version as it is easier to use and more straight-forwards. Now they know how to get it for free, thanks to you.

    Keep up the good work.
    Kind regards,

  4. Thank you so much for this highly informative article, Jeff! As someone who hates Windows 10 with a passion (I know that “hate” is a strong word, but I can’t stand Windows 10. Haha), I would love to revert back to Windows 7. When I had Windows 7 on my computer, my computer loaded and ran much quicker, my browser/tab functionality was smooth and seamless, I never experienced any virus/malware problems, and even my battery lasted longer (I doubt that the battery life has anything to do with the version of Windows, but I just wanted to point that out. Haha). You have done an excellent job of reminding me why I like it so much and will revert back to it ASAP. Haha God bless you!

  6. Hi Jeff,

Really insightful post. You describe the steps so clearly too, so any computer dinosaur could follow these.

I’m surprised you can still get Windows 7. I will admit I do miss it, it doesn’t compare with the newer versions, although Windows 10 is growing on me now that they’ve ironed out many of the issues of Windows 8.

  7. I still use Windows 7 and love it. Since it’s officially gone, I thought I was the only one refusing to give it up. Well Jeff thank you for this article. I feel better now (lol) and thanks for software download links. Your articles are always so useful. Cheers

  9. Wow

You know I had been looking for this information as I didnt have windows and had to buy. But for my other laptop I will follow your steps. I have bookmarked this

  10. Hi Jeff,

Thank you for sharing this article. I have 2 laptops at home. 1 is still using Windows 7 and the other 1 is using Windows 10 already. I am not a techie person so this guide in making sure I have great software installed on my Windows 7 laptop is very well appreciated.

You mentioned that Windows 7 AIO features include a new firewall and more secure. Do you think I don’t have to download any extra software like antivirus software anymore?

    Cheers,
    Ferra

  11. Hi Jeff,

Great article on an OS that has a lot less baggage than Windows 10. In my last job we used Win 7 Enterprise and I used Win 7 Professional at home to better assist clients if they needed help during off business hours. Win 7 was robust and if you used the proper security tools, hard to break in to. As a network admin it was easy to configure and required little maintenance. Just some updates every once in a while which were put in a test environment at the corp. office. Thanks for sharing this article. It was enlightening.

    1. Hello, Courtney

I am happy you enjoyed this article on Windows, I am one of those who would have preferred Microsoft had not created the newer versions
